The History of CF Montreal Soccer at Saputo Stadium

With the MLS Soccer Season finally here, the CF Montreal are ready for action! The Montreal squad have been playing at Saputo Stadium since 2012. Speaking of Saputo Stadium, the venue is located right next to the Olympic Stadium (home of the 1976 Summer Games and former home of MLB’s Montreal Expos). The stadium is about a 20-25 minute drive from Downtown Montreal (home of the NHL’s Canadiens). Saputo Stadium is also about a 2.5-hour drive from Ottawa (home of the NHL’s Senators and CFL’s Redblacks).

Since the CF Montreal became an MLS franchise in 2012, the team made the playoffs five times. In addition, the Montreal squad is one of the couple MLS teams based in Canada along with Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps. CF Montreal was formerly known as the Montreal Impact from 2012 until 2021.
