The History of Austin FC Soccer at Q2 Stadium
With the MLS Soccer Season underway, the Austin FC are ready for action! The Austin squad have been playing at Q2 Stadium (Austin, TX) since 2021. Speaking of Q2 Stadium, the venue is currently the newest soccer facility in the MLS. The stadium is about a 10-15 minute drive from University of Texas (home of the Texas Longhorns). Q2 Stadium is also about a 2.0-hour drive from San Antonio (home of the NBA’s Spurs, Minor League Baseball’s Missions, and College Football’s UTSA Roadrunners).
Since the Austin FC became an MLS franchise in 2021, the team has yet to reach the MLS Cup Playoffs. In addition, they became the city’s first ever professional sports franchise. Austin FC is one of the three MLS teams based in Texas along with Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas.
