The History of the Ohio State Buckeyes Basketball at Value City Arena
With the College Basketball Season around the corner, the Ohio State Buckeyes are ready for tip-off! The men in scarlet and gray have been playing at Value City Arena at Schottenstein Center since the late 1990’s. Speaking of Value City Arena, the venue can hold at least 18,000 fans in capacity. The Buckeyes basketball venue is about a 10-15 minute drive from Downtown Columbus (home of the NHL’s Blue Jackets, Triple-A Baseball’s Clippers, and MLS’ Columbus Crew). Value City Arena is also located on the school’s campus. The building was named after Value City Furniture Founder/Columbus Native Jerome Schottenstein. The men in scarlet and gray last won a National Championship in 1960. In fact, the Buckeyes last reached the Men’s National Title Game in 2007 (lost to Florida). Meanwhile, the school’s Women’s basketball team recently played in the 1993 National Title Game (lost to Texas Tech).
