With the Independent Season underway, the New Britain Bees are ready to play ball! The Bees are an independent affiliate of the Future Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). In fact, they are one of the couple professional baseball clubs that currently play in Connecticut: Norwich Sea Unicorns, Hartford Yard Goats, Danbury Westerners, Bristol Blues & Mystic Schooners. Before joining the Futures League in 2020, the Bees formerly played for the Atlantic League of Professional baseball from 2016 until 2019. The club’s name was inspired by the fact that its ballpark is situated to the right of Beehive Stadium (where local tournaments take place).

The Bees have been playing their home games at New Britain Stadium since 2016. Speaking of New Britain Stadium, the 6,000-capacity facility is located very close to the U.S. 9 Highway. The venue is about a 15-20 minute drive from Hartford (home of Double-A Baseball’s Hartford Yard Goats). In fact, the stadium is about a 40-45 minute drive from New Haven. Even though the independent club began play in 2016, the ballpark actually opened its doors during the mid-1990’s. The team’s official mascot is Sting the Bumble Bee.
