The History of Winnipeg Jets Hockey at Canada Life Centre
With the NHL Hockey season underway, the Winnipeg Jets are ready for puck-drop! The Jets have been playing home games at Canada Life Centre since 2011. Speaking of Canada Life Centre, the venue can hold nearly 15,000 hockey fans in capacity. The team’s venue is about a 20-25 minute drive from IG Field (home of the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers). Canada Life Centre is also about a 5-minute drive from Shaw Park (home of baseball’s Winnipeg Goldeyes).
The Jets were previously known as the Atlanta Thrashers (Georgia: 1999-2011) until their relocation to Winnipeg. Canada Life Centre is also the home of the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. The venue was formerly called Bell MTS Centre from 2017 until 2021. Since the 2017-2018 season, the Jets reached the Stanley Cup playoffs five times (including the 2018 Western Conference Finals).
