Who Are the Normal CornBelters? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Normal CornBelters (based in Normal, IL) are ready to play ball! The CornBelters are an Independent Baseball Team for the Prospect League (College Summer Baseball Organization). In addition, Normal plays in the Great River Division for the West Conference. The CornBelters have no prior Minor League affiliation with any MLB club. The team was named after the fact that Normal resides in Midwest region called the Corn Belt, which is where the food supply of corn is made.

Where do the Normal CornBelters Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?

The CornBelters have been playing their home games at The Corn Crib since 2010. Speaking of The Corn Crib, the 7,000-capacity ballpark is about a 1.5-hour drive from Springfield, IL (home of the Prospect League’s Springfield Sliders). In fact, the stadium is also about a 2.5-hour drive from Chicago (home of the MLB’s Cubs/White Sox, NHL’s Blackhawks, NBA’s Bulls, and NFL’s Bears). The Corn Crib is situated on the Heartland Community College campus. The team’s official mascot is Corny the Green Monster with Yellow Hair.
