The History of Houston Rockets Basketball at Toyota Center
With the NBA Basketball season underway, the Houston Rockets are ready for tip-off! The Rockets have been playing home games at Toyota Center since 2003. Speaking of Toyota Center, the venue can hold at least 18,000 basketball fans in capacity. The team’s venue is located in Downtown Houston (home of the MLB’s Astros and NFL’s Texans). In fact, Toyota Center is also about a 5-7 minute drive from the University of Houston campus (home of the Houston Cougars). The venue was formerly the home of the WNBA’s Houston Comets and Minor League Hockey’s Houston Aeros. The Rockets won two NBA Championships in 1994 and 1995. Since 2015, Houston has been to the Western Conference Finals twice (2015 and 2018).
