The History of Carolina Hurricanes Hockey at PNC Arena

With the NHL Hockey season underway, the Carolina Hurricanes are ready for puck-drop! The Hurricanes have been playing at the PNC Arena since 1999. Speaking of PNC Arena, the venue can hold nearly 19,000 fans in capacity. The team’s venue is located on the NC State University campus (home of the NC State Wolfpack).

The Hurricanes were formerly known as the Hartford Whalers (Connecticut) before relocating to the Carolinas in the mid-1990’s. In addition, Carolina won the 2006 Stanley Cup and played in the 2002 Stanley Cup Finals. PNC Arena is also the home of the NC State Wolfpack basketball. The venue was previously known as RBC Center from 2002 until 2012. In recent years, the Canes have reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2019 and 2023.
