The History of Badgers Football at Camp Randall Stadium

When the College Football Season around the corner, the Wisconsin Badgers are ready for kick-off! The men in Cardinal and White have been playing at Camp Randall Stadium since the late-1910’s. Speaking of Camp Randall Stadium, the venue can hold at least 80,000 fans in attendance. The Badgers football venue is about a 1.5-hour drive from Milwaukee (home of the MLB’s Brewers and NBA’s Bucks). Camp Randall Stadium is also located on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. The school’s football stadium was named after former Governor of Wisconsin/Civil War Soldier Alexander Randall. The venue was also the site of Camp Randall, a Civil War training facility.

Since its opening, the Badgers football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Bret Bielema (head coach), QB Russell Wilson, DB J.J. Watt, RB Melvin Gordon, FB Alan Ameche (Heisman Winner), Paul Chryst (head coach), RB Ron Dayne (Heisman Winner), and many more! The men in Cardinal and White last won a Big Ten Conference Championship in 2012, their 3rd such title since 2010. The Badgers have also played in eight New Year’s Bowl Games since 2010.
