With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the West Michigan Whitecaps (based in Comstock Park, MI) are ready to play ball! The Whitecaps are a High-A Team affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. In addition, they play in the East Division for the High-A Central League. The Whitecaps have been an affiliate for Detroit since 1997. Interestingly, the team used to have the Fifth Third Burger (5 beef patties, cup of chili, 5 cheese slices, and toppings). How this food challenge works is that a competitor must finish the burger before the final out of the game to win a free T-Shirt. Unfortunately, the Fifth Third Burger challenge discontinued as of 2018.

The Whitecaps have been playing their home games at Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) Ballpark since 1994. Speaking of LMCU Ballpark, the 8,500-capacity ballpark is located in Comstock Park near the Grand River. The stadium is also about a 10-15 minute drive from Grand Rapids. Formerly, the venue was known as Fifth Third Ballpark from 2000 until 2021. The team’s official mascots are Crash the River Rascal and Franky the Pig.
