Who Are the Washington Wild Things? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Washington Wild Things (based in Washington, PA) are ready to play ball! The Wild Things are an Independent Baseball Team for the Frontier League (partnered with the MLB). In addition, Washington plays in the West Division. The Wild Things have no prior affiliation with the Minor Leagues. The Washington franchise is the only Frontier League club that is based in Pennsylvania.

The Wild Things have been playing their home games at Wild Things Park since 2002. Speaking of Wild Things Park, the 3,000-capacity ballpark is about a 40-45 minute drive from Pittsburgh (home of the MLB’s Pirates, NHL’s Penguins, and NFL’s Steelers). In fact, the stadium is also about a 2.5-hour drive from Akron, OH (home of Double-A Baseball’s Akron RubberDucks). The venue was formerly known as CONSOL Energy Park from 2007 until 2016. The team’s main mascot is Wild Thing the Wild Brown Bear.
