The History of Washington Football at FedEx Field

With the NFL Football season underway, the Washington Commanders are ready for kick-off! The Commanders have been playing home games at FedEx Field since 1997. Speaking of FedEx Field, the venue can hold at least 80,000 football fans in capacity. The team’s venue is about a 20-25 minute drive from Washington D.C. (home of the NHL’s Capitals, NBA’s Wizards, MLB’s Nationals, and WNBA’s Mystics). FedEx Field is also about a 40-45 minute drive from Baltimore (home of the NFL’s Ravens and MLB’s Orioles). The Commanders last won the Super Bowl during the 1991 season (3rd title since 1982). Recently, Washington played in the 2020-2021 Wild Card Round (lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers).
