The History of Wake Forest Football at Truist Field

With the College Football Season around the corner, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are ready for kick-off! The men in Black and Gold have been playing at Truist Field since the late-1960’s. Speaking of Truist Field, the venue can hold at least 30,000 fans in attendance. The Demon Deacons’ football venue is about a 1.5-hour drive from Chapel Hill (home of the North Carolina Tar Heels). Truist Field is also located just a couple miles from the Wake Forest University campus. The school’s football stadium was formerly known as BB&T Field from 2007 until 2020.

Since its opening, the Demon Deacons football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Jim Grobe (head coach), RB Chris Barclay, LB Aaron Curry, CB Kevin Johnson, Dave Clawson (head coach), and many more! The men in Black and Gold last won a Conference Championship during the 2006 season. Since 2010, the Demon Deacons have played in six bowl games.
