The History of Wake Forest Basketball at LJVM Coliseum

With the College Basketball Season around the corner, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are ready for tip-off! The men in Black and Gold have been playing at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial (LJVM) Coliseum since the late-1980’s. Speaking of LJVM Coliseum, the venue can hold at least 14,000 fans in attendance. The Demon Deacons’ basketball venue is about a 1.5-hour drive from Chapel Hill (home of the North Carolina Tar Heels). LJVM is also located just a couple miles from the Wake Forest University campus. The school’s basketball stadium was named after Medal of Honor Recipient/Winston-Salem Native Lawrence Joel. The men in Black and Gold last played in the Elite 8 in 1996. Recently, Wake Forest reached the Men’s NCAA Tournament in 2017. Meanwhile, the women’s basketball club played in the March Madness Tournament in 2021.
