Who Are the Vancouver Canadians? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Vancouver Canadians (based in Vancouver, BC) are ready to play ball! They are a High-A Team affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. In addition, they play in the High-A West League (no Divisions). They have been a franchise for the Blue Jays since 2011. The Minor League Team previously partnered with the Oakland Athletics from 2000 until 2010. The Vancouver franchise is the only Minor League Baseball team based in Canada. For 2021, the team played home games in Oregon due to the global health crisis. The Canadians hope to return to Vancouver at some point in 2021.

Where do the Canadians Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?

They have been playing their home games at Nat Bailey Stadium since 1951. Speaking of Nat Bailey Stadium, the 6,500-capacity ballpark is located just outside Downtown Vancouver. The Canadians are one of the couple professional sports teams based in Vancouver along with the Canucks (NHL) and BC Lions (CFL). The city was formerly the home of the NBA’s Grizzlies before the team relocated to Memphis, Tennessee during the 2000’s. Vancouver’s baseball stadium was named after Nat Bailey (a local restaurant owner and baseball supporter). The ballpark also has a baseball museum named after the team’s historian Bud Kerr. The team’s official mascot is Bob Brown Bear.
