The History of Trojans Football at Los Angeles Coliseum
With the College Football Season around the corner, the USC Trojans are ready for kick-off! The men in cardinal and gold have been playing at Los Angeles Coliseum since the mid-1920’s. Speaking of Los Angeles Coliseum, the venue can hold nearly 75,000 fans in attendance. The Trojans football venue is about a 15-20 minute drive from Dodger Stadium (home of the 2020 World Series Champion-Los Angeles Dodgers). Los Angeles Coliseum is also located close to the University of Southern California campus. The school’s football stadium was the home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams from 2016 until the team’s relocation to Inglewood in 2019. Los Angeles Coliseum was the host of the 1984 Summer Olympics and will host the same honors in 2028.
Since its opening, the USC Trojans football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Pete Carroll (head coach), QB Matt Leinart, S Troy Polamalu, WR Keyshawn Johnson, QB Sam Darnold, John McKay (head coach), QB Carson Palmer, and many more! The men in cardinal and gold last won a National Championship in 2003, though they ended up forfeiting the 2004 title due to violations involving former player Reggie Bush.
