The History of UNLV Basketball at Thomas & Mack Center
With the College Basketball Season around the corner, the Rebels are ready for tip-off! The men in red and white have been playing at Thomas & Mack Center since the mid-1980’s. Speaking of Thomas & Mack Center, the venue can hold nearly 18,000 fans in capacity. The Rebels basketball venue is about a 10-15 minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip (home of the NHL’s Golden Knights and NFL’s Raiders). The basketball building is also located on the school’s campus adjacent to Cox Pavilion (women’s basketball).
The arena has a court that is named in honor of two campus expansion donors: Edward Parry Thomas and Jerome Mack. In addition, the venue serves as the home for the annual NBA Summer League games. For men’s basketball, the Rebels last reached the NCAA Tournament in 2013. Meanwhile, the women’s squad recently played in a similar tournament in 2022. The men’s program took part in the March Madness four times since 2010, while the women’s team only made one such appearance during that span.
