The History of UConn Huskies Football at Pratt & Whitney Stadium-Rentschler Field

With the College Football Season around the corner, the UConn Huskies are ready for kick-off! The men in Navy Blue and White have been playing at Pratt & Whitney Stadium-Rentschler Field since the early-2000’s. Speaking of Pratt & Whitney Stadium, the venue can hold nearly 40,000 fans in capacity. The Huskies’ football venue is a 0.5-hour drive from the University of Connecticut campus in Storrs, CT (home of the UConn Huskies basketball). Pratt & Whitney Stadium is also located just 10 minutes from Downtown Hartford. The school’s football stadium was named after Pratt & Whitney founder and local businessman Frederick Rentschler (whose company was based on aviation).

Since its opening, the Huskies football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Randy Edsall (head coach), CB Byron Jones, RB Donald Brown, Skip Holtz (head coach), and many more! The men in Navy Blue and White last won a Conference Championship during the 2010 season (shared). Currently, UConn is an independent football program (not assigned to any conference nor division). However, the Huskies have not played in a bowl game since the 2015 St. Petersburg Bowl.
