The History of UCLA Bruins Football at Rose Bowl Stadium
With the College Football Season around the corner, the UCLA Bruins are ready for kick-off! The men in Blue and Gold have been playing at Rose Bowl Stadium since the early-1920’s. Speaking of Rose Bowl Stadium, the venue can hold at least 90,000 fans in attendance. UCLA’s football venue is about a 20-minute drive from Los Angeles (home of the MLB’s Dodgers, NHL’s Kings, NBA’s Lakers and Clippers, and WNBA’s Sparks). Rose Bowl Stadium is also about a 30-40 minute drive from the University of California Los Angeles campus. The school’s football stadium is the site of the annual Rose Bowl, a neutral college football event that takes place every New Year’s Day.
Since its opening, the Bruins football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Terry Donahue (head coach), QB Troy Aikman, RB Maurice Jones-Drew, QB Gary Beban (Heisman Winner), Jim L. Mora (head coach), LB Eric Kendricks, and many more! The men in Blue and Gold last won a National Championship in 1954. Recently, the Bruins played in the Pac-12 Championship Game in 2012. The last time UCLA won a Conference Title was back in 1998.
