The History of Tulane Football at Yulman Stadium
With the College Football Season underway, the Tulane Green Wave are ready for kick-off! The men in green and white have been playing at Yulman Stadium since 2014. Speaking of Yulman Stadium, the venue can hold at least 30,000 fans in capacity. The Tulane football venue is about a 10-15 minute drive from Downtown New Orleans (home of the NFL’s Saints and NBA’s Pelicans). Yulman Stadium is also about a 1.5-hour drive from Baton Rouge (home of the LSU Tigers). The football building is even located on the school’s campus close to Turchin Stadium (baseball).
The venue was named in honor of former university board member and construction donor Richard Yulman. In addition, the playing field was dedicated to the late Saints/Pelicans owner Tom Benson. For the Green Wave program, the team last won a conference championship in 1998 (C-USA). In fact, Tulane has participated in four college bowl games since 2010. Before moving to their current venue, the Green Wave previously hosted home games at the Superdome (home of the Saints and the annual Sugar Bowl).
