Who Are the Tri-City ValleyCats? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Tri-City ValleyCats (Troy, NY) are ready to play ball! The ValleyCats are an Independent Baseball Team for the Frontier League. Also, Tri-City plays in the East Division. The ValleyCats were a Class-A affiliate for the Houston Astros from 2002 until 2020. Tri-City is one of the four Frontier League teams based in the Northeast U.S. along with the Miners, Boulders, and Jackals. The team named the ValleyCats after the fact that the team plays near three cities: Troy, Schenectady, and Albany.

Where do the Tri-City ValleyCats Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?

The ValleyCats have been playing their home games at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium (or The Joe) since 2002. Speaking of The Joe, the 4,500-capacity ballpark is about a 2.5-hour drive from Syracuse (home of the Syracuse Mets and Syracuse Crunch). In fact, the stadium is also about a 2.5-hour drive from Binghamton, NY (home of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies). The ballpark is named after the late New York Politician Joseph L. Bruno (who played a major role in the venue’s construction). The team’s main mascot is SouthPaw the ValleyCat.
