Who Are the Trenton Thunder? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Trenton Thunder (based in Trenton, New Jersey) are ready to play ball! The Thunder are an Independent Baseball Team for College Baseball’s Top Prospects. In addition, they play in the MLB Draft League (no divisions). The Thunder were a Double-A affiliate for the New York Yankees from 2003 until 2020.

Where do the Trenton Thunder Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?

The Thunder have been playing their home games at Trenton Thunder Ballpark since 1994. Speaking of Trenton Thunder Ballpark, the 6,000-capacity ballpark is located in Downtown Trenton near the Delaware River. The stadium is about a 1.5-hour drive from New York City and a 40-50 minute drive from Philadelphia.

For 2021, Trenton Thunder Ballpark served as the temporarily home for the Buffalo Bisons (AAA). Buffalo had to relocate due to the Toronto Blue Jays playing at the Bisons’ venue (Sahlen Field) because of Canada’s global health restrictions. Trenton Thunder Ballpark was formerly known as the Arm & Hammer Park from 2012 until 2021. The team’s official mascots are Boomer the Blue Thunderbird and Cloudman the Superhero.
