With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Pit Spitters (based in Traverse City, MI) are ready to play ball! The Northern Michigan-based franchise is an Independent Baseball Team for the Northwoods League. In addition, Traverse City plays in the East Division for the Great Lakes League. The Pit Spitters have no prior Minor League affiliation with any MLB club. The club is one of the several state-based professional baseball teams along with the Detroit Tigers, Lansing Lugnuts, West Michigan Whitecaps, and Great Lakes Loons.

The Pit Spitters have been playing their home games at Turtle Creek Stadium since 2019. Speaking of Turtle Creek Stadium, the 3,500-capacity ballpark is about a 2.5-hour drive from Grand Rapids (home of Minor League Hockey’s Grand Rapids Griffins). In fact, the ballpark is also about a 3.0-hour drive from Saginaw (home of Professional Men’s Hockey’s Saginaw Spirit). The Pit Spitters are one of the newest clubs in the Northwoods League and in the state of Michigan. In fact, Turtle Creek Stadium was previously known as Pit Spitters Park (2019) and Wuerfel Park (2006-2019). The team’s official mascot is Monty the Blue Monster.
