The History of Texas Longhorns Basketball at Frank Erwin Center

With the College Basketball Season around the corner, the Texas Longhorns are ready for tip-off! The men in white and burnt orange have been playing at Frank Erwin Center since the mid-1970’s. Speaking of Frank Erwin Center, the venue can hold at least 16,000 fans in attendance. The Longhorns basketball venue is about a 1.5-hour drive from San Antonio (home of the NBA’s Spurs and Minor League Baseball’s Missions). Frank Erwin Center is also located on the University of Texas campus. The Longhorns basketball stadium was named after the school’s former board of regents member Frank Erwin. The men in white and burnt orange last reached the Final Four in 2003. Since 2010, Texas has played in the Men’s March Madness Tournament eight times. Meanwhile, the women’s team won the National Championship in 1986.
