Who Are the Tacoma Rainiers? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Tacoma Rainiers are ready to play ball! The Rainiers are a Triple-A Team affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. In addition, they play in the West Division for the Pacific Coast League as of 2024. For 2021, Tacoma played in the same division for the Triple-A West League. 2024 will be the club’s 28th year as an MiLB affiliation club for the Mariners since their affiliation partnership began in 1995.

Where do the Tacoma Rainiers Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?

The Rainiers have been playing their home games at Cheney Stadium since its inaugural season in 1960. Speaking of Cheney Stadium, the 6,500-capacity ballpark is located right next to a high school (Foss High School). The school’s parking lot would be accessible for fans during the team’s home games. The ballpark is also located near the Snake Lake.

The Rainiers’ home base (Tacoma) and the Mariners’ home base (Seattle) are located approximately 25 miles away from each other. Therefore, this would make it one of the shortest player level transitions from Triple-A to Major Leagues in baseball. The team’s official mascot is Rhubarb the Reindeer.
