The History of Syracuse Orange Football at the Carrier Dome

With the College Football Season around the corner, the Syracuse Orange are ready for kick-off! The men in Orange have been playing at the Carrier Dome since the early-1980’s. Speaking of Carrier Dome, the venue can hold at least 45,000 football fans in attendance. The Syracuse Orange’s venue is about a 2.5-hour drive from Buffalo (home of the NHL’s Sabres and NFL’s Bills). Carrier Dome is also located on the Syracuse University campus. The school’s football stadium is also the home of the Syracuse Orange Basketball games, led by longtime head coach Jim Boeheim.

The Orange football program has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Paul Pasqualoni (head coach), HB Ernie Davis (Heisman Winner), QB Donovan McNabb, HB Jim Brown, Dick Macpherson (head coach), and many more! The men in Orange last won a National Championship during the 1959 season. Recently, the Orange won a conference title in 2012 (shared). Since 2010, the Syracuse football program has played in four bowl games.
