With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (based in Sugar Land, TX) are ready to play ball! The Space Cowboys are a Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. In addition, they play in the East Division for the Pacific Coast League as of 2024. For 2021, Sugar Land played in the same division for the Triple-A West League. The Space Cowboys have been an affiliate for the Astros since 2021. Sugar Land was an Independent League franchise since its inception in 2012, but joined Triple-A as part of the MLB’s Minor League reorganization plan nine years later. The team was formerly known as the Sugar Land Skeeters from 2012 until 2022.

The Space Cowboys have been playing their home games at Constellation Field since 2012. Speaking of Constellation Field, the 7,000-capacity ballpark is located in Sugar Land, Texas (which is about a half hour drive from Houston). During the Skeeters era, the team’s official mascot was Swatson the Skeeter Fly. The new mascot will be Orion the Light Blue Alien.
