The History of Chicago Cubs Spring Training in Mesa

With the Spring Training Cactus League Season underway, the Chicago Cubs are ready to play ball! The Cubbies have been training at the Sloan Park since 2014. Speaking of Sloan Park, the venue is also the home of the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League. The Cubs’ facility is currently the newest Cactus League stadium in the big leagues. Sloan Park is about a 5-10 minute drive from Hohokam Stadium, the Spring Training home of the Oakland Athletics.

The Cubs’ facility is also about a 20-25 minute drive from American Family Fields Phoenix, the Spring Training home of the Milwaukee Brewers. Since the Cubs came to the stadium in 2014, the team broke their 108-year championship drought by winning the 2016 World Series. The Cubbies also played in 3 NLCS appearances (2015-2017) along with 5 playoff appearances.
