The History of SDSU Aztecs Football at Snapdragon Stadium
With the College Football Season around the corner, the San Diego State Aztecs are ready for kick-off! The men in Red and Black have been playing at Snapdragon Stadium since 2022. Speaking of Snapdragon Stadium, the venue can hold at least 35,000 fans in attendance. San Diego State’s football venue is about a 2.0-Hour drive from LA Memorial Coliseum (home of the USC Trojans). Snapdragon Stadium is also about a 6-10 minute drive from the San Diego State University campus. Before the school’s current football venue, the Aztecs played the majority of their home games at the formerly-named Qualcomm Stadium (which housed the Chargers and Padres).
In the past, the Aztecs football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: RB Marshall Faulk, eventual head coach Herm Edwards, DE Fred Dryer, and many more! The men in Red and Black last won a Mountain West Conference Title in 2016. In fact, the Aztecs have won three conference championships since 2010’s. Recently, SDSU won the 2021 Frisco Bowl vs. UTSA Roadrunners.
