With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Quad Cities River Bandits (based in Davenport, Iowa) are ready to play ball! The River Bandits are a High-A Team affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. In addition, they play in the West Division for the High-A Central League. The River Bandits have been an affiliate for the Royals since 2021.
The Quad Cities franchise previously partnered with the Houston Astros from 2013 until 2020. The minor league team was named after Quad Cities, which is an area of five cities that are very close to the Iowa/Illinois state line. Those five cities are: Moline (Illinois), East Moline (Illinois), Rock Island (Illinois), Bettendorf (Iowa), and Davenport (Iowa).
Where do the Quad Cities River Bandits Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?
The River Bandits have been playing their home games at Modern Woodmen Park since 1931. Speaking of Modern Woodmen Park, the 4,000-capacity ballpark is located in Downtown Davenport (which is near the Mississippi River). The stadium is also very close to the Centennial Bridge, which can be seen at right field. The ballpark will undergo renovations in the near future, which focuses on the improving the clubhouse, replacing seats, and many more.
Modern Woodmen Park is notable for having an amusement park at left field that consists of a Ferris Wheel, Carousel, and other rides. The ballpark is also about a 2.5-hour drive from Des Moines (home of Triple-A Baseball’s Iowa Cubs). The team’s official mascot is Rascal the River Bandit (Racoon in a Bandit Costume).
