The History of Purdue Boilermakers Football at Ross-Ade Stadium

With the College Football Season around the corner, the Purdue Boilermakers are ready for kick-off! The men in Black and Gold have been playing at Ross-Ade Stadium since the mid-1920’s. Speaking of Ross-Ade Stadium, the venue can hold at least 55,000 fans in attendance. The Boilermakers’ football venue is about a 1.5-hour drive from Downtown Indianapolis (home of the NFL’s Colts, NBA’s Pacers, WNBA’s Fever, and Triple-A Baseball’s Indians). Ross-Ade Stadium is also located on the Purdue University campus. The school’s football stadium was named after Purdue graduates and local donors David E. Ross (board of trustees member) and George Ade (play writer).

In the past, the Boilermakers football program has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Jeff Brohm (head coach), QB Drew Brees (Heisman Finalist), RB Mike Alstott, WR Rondale Moore, QB Bob Griese, Joe Tiller (head coach), and many more! The men in Black and Gold last won a Conference Championship during the 2000 season (shared). Since 2010, the football program has played in four bowl games.
