The History of Portland Trail Blazers Basketball at Moda Center
With the NBA Basketball season underway, the Portland Trail Blazers are ready for tip-off! The Trail Blazers have been playing home games at Moda Center since 1995. Speaking of Moda Center, the venue can hold at least 19,000 basketball fans in capacity. The team’s venue is about a 1.0-hour drive from Eugene (home of the Oregon Ducks and Minor League Baseball’s Emeralds). Moda Center is also about a 1.5-hour drive from Corvallis (home of the Oregon State Beavers).
The venue was formerly known as the Rose Garden from 1995 until 2013. The Trail Blazers have made the playoffs eight straight seasons dating back to 2014. In fact, Portland reached the Western Conference Finals in 2019. Before the venue opened, the Trail Blazers won an NBA championship in 1977. Portland also played in the NBA Finals in 1990 and 1992.
