The History of the Fighting Irish Football at Notre Dame Stadium

When the College Football Season around the corner, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are ready for kick-off! The men in blue and gold have been playing at Notre Dame Stadium since the early 1930’s. Speaking of Notre Dame Stadium, the venue can hold at least 75,000 fans in attendance. The Fighting Irish football venue is about a 1.5-hour drive from Chicago, IL (home of the MLB’s Cubs & White Sox, NHL’s Blackhawks, NBA’s Bulls, and NFL’s Bears). Notre Dame Stadium is also located on the University of Notre Dame campus. The football venue hosted the 2019 NHL Winter Classic between the Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins. The stadium is also a 10-15 minute drive from Downtown South Bend (home of the South Bend Cubs of Minor League Baseball).

Since its opening, the Fighting Irish football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Lou Holtz (head coach), QB Joe Montana, WR Golden Tate, LB Manti Te’o, Brian Kelly (head coach), QB Ian Book, QB Joe Theismann, and many more! The men in blue and gold last won a National Championship in 1988, their 4th such title since the 1960’s.
