The History of North Texas Football at Apogee Stadium
With the College Football Season around the corner, the North Texas Mean Green are ready for kick-off! The men in Green have been playing at Apogee Stadium since 2011. Speaking of Apogee Stadium, the venue can hold nearly 30,000 fans in capacity. The Mean Green’s football venue is about a 45-50 minute drive from Dallas (home of the NHL’s Stars and NBA’s Mavericks). Apogee Stadium is also located on the University of North Texas campus. The school’s football stadium is also about a 2.5-hour drive from Oklahoma City, OK (home of the NBA’s Thunder and Triple-A Baseball’s Dodgers).
The Mean Green’s football program has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Seth Littrell (head coach), DT Joe Greene, WR Jaelon Darden, Dan McCarney (head coach), and many more! The men in Green last played in the C-USA Championship Game in 2017 (lost to Florida Atlantic). Since 2013, the Mean Green have played in five bowl games.
