The History of New York Mets Baseball at Citi Field
With the Major League Baseball (MLB) Season underway, the New York Mets are ready to play ball! The Mets have been playing at Citi Field since 2009. Speaking of Citi Field, the venue hosted the 2013 All-Star Game along with the 2018 NHL Winter Classic (Sabres vs. Rangers). The ballpark is located near the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center (home of the annual U.S. Open Tournament). Citi Field is also about a 20-25 minute drive from Yankee Stadium (home of the New York Yankees). Since the Mets moved to their current home in 2009, the team played in the 2015 World Series (lost to Kansas City Royals in five games). New York (NL) also played in two playoff appearances since the stadium opened.
