The History of New York Islanders Hockey at UBS Arena
With the NHL Hockey season underway, the New York Islanders are ready for puck-drop! The Isles have been playing home games at UBS Arena since 2021. Speaking of UBS Arena, the venue can hold nearly 18,000 hockey fans in capacity. The team’s venue is about a 15-20 minute drive from Citi Field (home of the MLB’s Mets). UBS Arena is also about a 40-45 minute drive from Madison Square Garden (home of the NHL’s Rangers and NBA’s Knicks).
UBS Arena became the newest venue in the NHL along with Climate Pledge Arena (2021-Kraken), T-Mobile Arena (2017-Golden Knights), and Little Caesar’s Arena (2017-Red Wings). The Islanders previously played their home games at the Nassau Coliseum and Barclays Center. The Isles won four straight Stanley Cups from 1980 until 1983. Recently, New York advance to the Stanley Cup Semifinals in consecutive seasons in 2020 and 2021.
