Who Are the New Orleans Baby Cakes? What League Do They Play in?
With the 2019 Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the New Orleans Baby Cakes are ready to play ball! The Baby Cakes are a Triple-A Team affiliate of the Miami Marlins. In addition, they play in the Southern Division for the Pacific Coast League. 2019 will be the club’s 10th year as an MiLB affiliation club for the Marlins as their farm system partnership began in 2009. Before changing the club’s “Baby Cakes” name in 2017, the Minor League team was known as the New Orleans Zephyrs. Unfortunately, the Baby Cakes will relocate to Wichita, Kansas in 2020. So don’t miss your chance to see the Baby Cakes one last time before they head Midwest next season!
Where do the New Orleans Baby Cakes Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?
The Zephyrs/Baby Cakes have been playing their home games at Shrine at Airline since 1997 after spending their first three seasons at Privateer Park. Speaking of Shrine at Airline, the 10,000-capacity ballpark was formerly known as Zephyr Field and it is located just several miles northwest of downtown New Orleans. The team’s official mascot is Boudreaux the Nutria.
