The History of Nevada Wolf Pack Football at Mackay Stadium
With the College Football Season around the corner, the Nevada Wolf Pack are ready for kick-off! The men in Navy and Silver have been playing at Mackay Stadium since the mid-1960’s. Speaking of Mackay Stadium, the venue can hold at least 30,000 fans in attendance. The Wolf Pack’s football venue is about a 2.0-hour drive from Sacramento, CA (home of the NBA’s Kings and Minor League Baseball’s River Cats). Mackay Stadium is also located on the University of Nevada-Reno campus. The school’s football stadium was named after Clarence Mackay (who was one of the contributors for the university).
In the past, the Wolf Pack football program has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Chris Ault (head coach), QB Colin Kaepernick, WR Nate Burleson, Jay Norvell (head coach), and many more! The men in Navy and Silver last won a Conference Championship during the 2010 season (shared). Since 2010, the football program has played in eight bowl games.
