The History of Michigan State Spartans Basketball at Breslin Center
With the College Basketball Season around the corner, the Michigan State Spartans are ready for tip-off! The men in Green and White have been playing at Breslin Center since the late-1980’s. Speaking of Breslin Center, the venue can hold at least 16,000 fans in attendance. Michigan State’s basketball venue is about a 1.0-Hour drive from Ann Arbor (home of the Michigan Wolverines). Breslin Center is also located on the Michigan State University campus. The school’s basketball stadium was named after former MSU Administrator Jack Breslin (who played a role in developing multi-use student venues on campus). The men in Green and White last won a National Championship in 2000. In fact, the Spartans have played in the men’s Final Four seven times since the 2000’s (2000, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2015, 2019). Meanwhile, the women’s basketball program reached the 2005 National Championship Game (lost to Baylor).
