The History of Minnesota United FC Soccer at Allianz Field
With the MLS Soccer Season underway, the Minnesota United FC are ready for action! The Soccer Club has been playing at Allianz Field since their inception in 2017. Speaking of Allianz Field, the venue is currently the newest stadium in Minneapolis/St. Paul. The St. Paul-based stadium is about a 10-15 minute drive from Target Field and Target Center (home of the MLB’s Minnesota Twins and NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves-respectively). Allianz Field is also about a 5-10 minute drive from US Bank Stadium (home of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings).
Since the Minnesota United FC became an MLS franchise in 2017, the team made the playoffs three times (2019-2021). In addition, the Minnesota club finished as the runner-up for the 2019 U.S. Open Cup (Lost to Atlanta United FC). Allianz Field is one of the couple sports venues in St. Paul along with CMS Field (Triple-A Baseball’s St. Paul Saints) and Xcel Energy Center (NHL’s Minnesota Wild).
