The History of Wolverines Football at Michigan Stadium

With the College Football Season around the corner, the Michigan Wolverines are ready for kick-off! The men in blue and maize have been playing at Michigan Stadium since the mid-1920’s. Speaking of Michigan Stadium (or “The Big House”), the venue can hold at least 100,000 fans in attendance. The Wolverines football venue is about a 45-50 minute drive from Detroit (home of the MLB’s Tigers, NHL’s Red Wings, NBA’s Pistons, and NFL’s Lions). Michigan Stadium is also located just a couple miles from the University of Michigan’s main campus. The school’s football stadium hosted the 2014 NHL Winter Classic (Red Wings vs. Maple Leafs).

Since its opening, the Wolverines football venue has witnessed some of the greatest college football players and coaches in history. Those players are the following: Lloyd Carr (head coach), QB Tom Brady, WR Desmond Howard, CB Charles Woodson, QB Brian Griese, Bo Schembechler (head coach), QB/Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, and many more! The men in blue and maize last won a National Championship in 1997 (shared with Nebraska).
