The History of Memphis Grizzlies Basketball at FedEx Forum
With the NBA Basketball season underway, the Memphis Grizzlies are ready for tip-off! The Grizzlies have been playing home games at FedEx Forum since 2004. Speaking of FedEx Forum, the venue can hold at least 18,000 basketball fans in capacity. The team’s venue is located in Downtown Memphis (home of Triple-A Baseball’s Redbirds). In fact, FedEx Forum is also about a 15-20 minute drive from the University of Memphis campus (home of the Memphis Tigers). The Grizzlies were previously known as the Vancouver Grizzlies until their relocation to Tennessee in 2001. FedEx Forum also serves as the home of Memphis Tigers college basketball. The Grizzlies played in the 2013 Western Conference Finals, but lost to Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs in four games. Since 2011, the team has been to the playoffs eight times.
