Who Are the Mahoning Valley Scrappers? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Baseball Season (MiLB) underway, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (based in Niles, Ohio) are ready to play ball! The Scrappers are an Independent Baseball Team for College Baseball’s Top Prospects. In addition, they play in the MLB Draft League (no divisions). The Scrappers were a Class-A farm club for the Cleveland Indians from 1999 until 2020. The Mahoning Valley franchise is one of the six Minor League Baseball teams based in Ohio: Akron RubberDucks (AA), Lake County Captains (AA), Columbus Clippers (AAA), Toledo Mud Hens (AAA), and Dayton Dragons (AA).

Where do the Mahoning Valley Scrappers Play their Home Games? Who is the Official Mascot?

The Scrappers have been playing their home games at Eastwood Field since 1999. Speaking of Eastwood Field, the 6,000-capacity ballpark is located in Niles near the Mosquito Creek. In fact, the stadium is about a 1.5-hour drive from Cleveland (home of the MLB’s Indians, NBA’s Cavaliers, NFL’s Browns, and AHL’s Monsters). Eastwood Field is also about a 20-30 minute drive from Youngstown (home of the Youngstown State Penguins). The Scrappers’ venue was named after the nearby Eastwood Mall. The team’s official mascot is Scrappy the Bulldog.
