Who Are the London Knights? What League Do They Play in?

With the Minor League Hockey Season underway, the London Knights are ready to drop the puck! The Knights are an independent affiliate of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In fact, the OHL is one of the three leagues in the Canadian Hockey League along with the Quebec Major Junior League and the Western Hockey League. The Knights have been playing in the OHL since 1965. London won two Memorial Cup championships in 2005 and 2016. The Knights also played in the 2012 Memorial Cup Final, but ended up losing to the Shawinigan Cataractes. Since 2005, London has won four Robertson Cup titles (OHL Champion).

The Knights have been playing their home games at Budweiser Gardens since 2002. Speaking of Budweiser Gardens, the 9,000-capacity arena is located in Downtown London. The venue is also about a 1.5-hour drive from Hamilton (home of the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs and CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats). Budweiser Gardens was previously known as the John Labatt Centre from 2002 until 2012. The team’s main mascot is Scorezy the Knight.
