Defensive Line Coach J.C. Price will guide the Hokies on an interim basis. Fuente compiled a 43-31 overall record and 28-20 in the Atlantic Coastal Conference. At the time of the firing announcement, the Hokies were 5-5 overall (3-3 in the conference) during the 2021 season. Fuente took over the Virginia Tech gig from long-time head coach Frank Beamer (who coached the Hokies from 1987 until 2015).
