Full Story on Chip Lindsey Being Fired as Troy Trojans Football Head Coach
With Chip Lindsey gone, now is the time for the Troy Trojans (based in Alabama) to make a list of top candidates. In fact, the recognizable applicants could be qualified to become the team’s new head coach for the 2022 Season. Troy University decided to dismiss Lindsey after three seasons following their loss vs. Appalachian State. Defensive Coordinator Brandon Hall will coach the Trojans on an interim basis. Lindsey compiled a 15-19 overall record and 9-13 in the Sun Belt Conference. At the time of the firing announcement, the Trojans were 5-6 overall (3-4 in the conference) during the 2021 season. After their 4-3 start to the season, Troy ended up losing three of its next four games.
During his time in Southern Alabama, Chip Lindsey was unable to guide the Trojans to any bowl games. In fact, Troy has not been to a bowl game nor accomplished a winning season since the 2018 Dollar General Bowl (10-3). The Troy Trojans football program has not been the same since former head coach Neal Brown took the same offer at West Virginia in 2019. Prior to becoming the Trojans head coach in 2019, Lindsey was the Offensive Coordinator for Southern Miss (2014-2015), Arizona State (2016), and Auburn (2017-2018).
