The Hoosier State is one of sports fans’ must go-to places to see a baseball game and visit themed museums. Indiana has many college and professional teams that play throughout the entire state. In addition, the Midwest destination is one of the most recommended vacation spots because of its racing history and strong connection to college basketball. Now many people are wondering: Does Indiana have any baseball museums or restaurants to visit? Luckily, for the sporting community, the Hoosier State has over a dozen baseball attractions to choose from. Baseball Museums in Indiana

Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame (Jasper)
  • Location: 851 College Ave, Jasper, IN 47546
  • Distance from Louisville (KY): 1.5-Hour Drive
  • The Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame is situated on the Vincennes University Jasper Ruxer Student Center campus. The venue showcases baseball stars that were born and raised in the Hoosier State. 
  • Top Highlights: Nearly 200 Inductees of Local and Professional Baseball Players: Don Larsen (2005, Perfect Game in 1956 World Series), Don Mattingly (2001, Manager for Dodgers and Marlins), Dan Plesac (2011, Former Pitcher & MLB Network Analyst), Lloyd McClendon (2011, Manager for Pirates & Mariners), Ford Frick (1983, Executive who has a Broadcasting Award in his honor), Kenesaw Mountain Landis (1983, First MLB Commissioner)

Mascot Hall of Fame (Whiting)
  • Location: 1851 Front St, Whiting, IN 46394
  • Distance from Chicago (IL): 0.5-Hour Drive
  • The museum is located in the small town of Whiting, which is very close to Lake Michigan. It is the only museum in America that showcases a large collection of mascots from baseball and other sports in general. 
  • Top Exhibits: Design a Mascot, T-Shirt Shooter Stadium, Mini-Playground, Science of Silliness, Build-A-Bear Workshop®, and Hall of Fame Members: Phillie Phanatic (Philadelphia), The Oriole Bird (Baltimore), Mr. Met (New York), Slider (Cleveland), Southpaw (Chicago), Sluggerrr (Kansas City), and Many More!

The History Museum (South Bend)
  • Location: 808 W Washington St, South Bend, IN 46601
  • Distance from University of Notre Dame Campus: 10-15 Minute Drive
  • The History Museum has a permanent exhibit called Polished in Public, Fierce on the Field: The AAGPBL. The experience focuses on the women playing professional baseball (All-American Girls Professional Baseball League) while MLB players were fighting in World War II in the 1940s. The exhibit is located in the lower level (below the ground level). 
  • Top Exhibits: A League of Their Own Behind the Scenes, AAGPBL History, Year-by-Year Timeline

Baseball Restaurants in Indiana

High Velocity (Indianapolis)
  • Location: 10 S West St, Indianapolis, IN 46204
  • Distance from Columbus (OH): 3.0-Hour Drive
  • The dining experience is located across the street from Victory Field (home of the Indianapolis Indians). In fact, the window-side seating booths have the views of the stadium’s outfield entrance. The restaurant has over dozens of television screens where guests could watch Indians games and Colts contests. 
  • Top Menu Highlights: Wagyu Burgers, Short Rib Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Philly Cheesesteaks, Chicken Fingers & Fries, Shrimp Tacos, Pretzels & Beer Cheese

  • Wrigley Field Bar & Grill is named in honor of the historic Cubs ballpark in Chicago. On the plus side, the venue has a children’s menu and it has some arcade games. Perhaps the main downside is that there aren’t many Chicago Cubs decorations inside the restaurant.

O’Reilly’s Irish Pub & Restaurant (Fort Wayne)

  • The eatery is situated adjacent to Parkview Field (home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps). Believe it or not, there aren’t many Irish restaurants that are located right next to a professional baseball stadium.
