Full Story on Jon Gruden Stepping Down as Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach

With Jon Gruden gone, now is the time for the Las Vegas Raiders to make a list of top candidates. In fact, the recognizable applicants could be qualified to become the team’s new head coach for the 2022 Season. Gruden resigned as head coach after three and a half seasons following their home loss vs. Chicago Bears on October 10. Raiders Associate Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator Rich Bisaccia became the team’s Interim Coach for the remainder of the season. Gruden compiled a 22-31 overall record with no playoff appearances. At the time of the stunning announcement, the Raiders were 3-2 for the season before finishing with 10-7. Gruden faced racism allegations in his prior emails and his former team (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) removed him from the Ring of Honor.

Jon Gruden’s Career with Las Vegas Raiders & Football

During his time in the Sin City, Jon Gruden was unable to guide the Raiders to any playoff appearances. In fact, Gruden was the last Raiders coach in the Oakland era before the team’s relocation to Las Vegas in 2020. Despite Gruden’s departure, the Raiders made the playoffs for the first time since 2016. The club is looking for its postseason victory since the 2003 AFC Championship Game vs. Tennessee Titans. Prior to becoming the Raiders head coach in 2018, Jon Gruden was the color commentator for ESPN’s Monday Night Football (2009-2017). He was also the head coach for the Buccaneers (2002-2008) and Raiders (1998-2001). Gruden won a Super Bowl championship in early 2003 vs. his former team, the Raiders.
