Full Story on Billy Napier Stepping Down as Ragin’ Cajuns Football Head Coach
With Billy Napier gone, now is the time for the Ragin’ Cajuns to make a list of top candidates. In fact, the recognizable applicants could be qualified to become the team’s new head coach for the 2022 Season. Napier will be stepping down as Ragin’ Cajuns Head Coach after four seasons following their trip to the 2021 Sun Belt Championship Game. He will become the next head coach for the Florida Gators, replacing Dan Mullen. Napier compiled a 39-12 overall record and a 27-5 record in the Sun Belt Conference. At the time of the sudden announcement, the Ragin’ Cajuns were 11-1 overall (8-0 in the conference) during the 2021 season. The team has won 11 consecutive games during the season since their week 1 loss vs. Texas Longhorns.
During his time in Lafayette, Billy Napier guided the Ragin’ Cajuns to 4 bowl games. In fact, the team won the 2020 Sun Belt title and played in 3 conference championship appearances. In addition, Billy Napier led the football program to three 10-win seasons from 2019 until 2021. Prior to becoming the club’s head coach in 2018, Napier was the OC for the Sun Devils (2017). He was also the offense coach for Colorado St. (2012), Florida St. (2013), and Crimson Tide (2013-2016).
