The History of NASCAR Racing in Las Vegas, Nevada
With the NASCAR racing season around the corner, the Pennzoil 400 (267 Laps and 400 Miles) is ready, set & go! Pennzoil 400 has been racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway since 1998. Speaking of Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the venue also serves as the home for the NASCAR Playoff Race in October: the South Point 400. The Nevada-based racetrack is one of the several NASCAR venues that host more than one race in a season along with Atlanta, Daytona, Richmond, Phoenix, and Talladega.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is about a 25-30 minute drive from the Vegas Strip (home of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders). The Nevada-based racetrack is also about a 30-35 minute drive from Las Vegas Ballpark (home of the Triple-A Baseball’s Las Vegas Aviators). Since the Pennzoil 400 race began in 1998, the race was won by some of the biggest names in NASCAR like Joey Lagano, Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick, and many more!
